  1. to recycle you need to look at use. Clothing can be recycled two ways, by sale of items or ragged stuff can be used as rags, patches, or a great memeory quilt. Furniture is good shape given to someone, or broke down to useable parts, need a fluffy new dog or kitty bed, use the fluff and stuff of old furniture. Most everything can be recycle, given away, or sold. Its a matter of using your imagination on how to use each piece as is or after broke down.

  2. lots of things are recyclable, eg. all paper products, plastic containers inc. milk bottles and the plastic inside thingies of cereal packets, old CDMA phones are now recyclable just hand them in @ a recycling depot, you can also recycle stuff like old TV monitors(they use the cables and stuff) printers, printer cartridges, CARDBOARD IS DEFINITELY RECYCLABLE, DO IT !!!!

you can recycle EMPTY pizza boxes, unbroken glass bottles and jars, empty dry paint tins, you can even recycle engine oil !

BUT DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, PUT:

    + SHARPS

    + PLASTIC BAGS

    + BROKEN GLASS

    + CROCKERY

    + MIRRORS

  3. Some ideas below...

  4. Virtually anything is recyclable if you do it the correct way

any paper product (newspaper, cardboard, stuff food comes in...)

    plastic

    aluminum.

for more info on what is allowed in your community

look up you sanitary plants, like your dumps and stuff.

or your mayoral office, they could give you info

  5. Nearly everything is recycable. We have chickens and dogs for foodstuffs, compost heap for garden for other waste, avoid plastics and dont use disposable nappies. Glass and Cans are about the only things we put in the Recycle Bin. Good Question.

  6. You'll probably get a lot of good advice on what you can recycle from different people, but I just wanted to mention this:

If your recycling company doesn't say they want a certain type of thing, don't put it in the recycling bin.

A lot of people tend to want to put everything that might be recyclable in with the bins.  In truth, I myself hate to throw away motor oil bottles, food trays, and other such plastics that are not recycled in our area.

However, it hurts the recycling business when things are thrown into the mix that won't sell to materials manufacturers in your area.  Every time somebody tosses a bag of foam packing material or a greasy pizza box in with the rest of the "good" recyclables, it has to be sorted out and ends up in the landfill anyway.  This is done at the cost of the recycling company, which is trying to make a profit in order to continue with the good work it is doing.

So keep the garbage out of the recycling!

Below is a list of things I know to be recyclable:

Almost all recyclers will accept foil and steel in most forms.  Metals are the most profitable materials for recyclers.

A lot of them will accept plastics (although in my area they ask for only #1 and #2 beverage bottles, a request of which I am respectful).  Plastic bags are not usually accepted, and can mess up the works when they get in the machinery at the recycling plant, so buy some cloth grocery bags and count them out.

A lot of them will also accept glass bottles in various colors (check with your recycler, but many cannot use plate glass, Pyrex, and other 'specialty' glass types).

Cardboard is frequently recyclable, but check with your recycler.  Corrugated cardboard is almost always accepted, but they can be picky about chipboard (e.g. cereal boxes) and other similar "shiny" cardboards.

Paper is often recycled, but again, they can be picky about what kinds.  Newspaper and office paper are almost always accepted.

In some areas, batteries and light bulbs can be recycled.  Definitely check with your recyclers before putting either of these in, though.

Motor oil should always be recycled.  If you change your own oil, you can take it down to a garage or auto parts store.  They will accept it so that it can go back and be recycled.

Antifreeze is a little harder to recycle sometimes, but some places do it.  In my area, the recycling company has a part of their website where they tell you where you can go on what days to safely recycle antifreeze, old paint, and other toxic chemicals.

Some places will also accept old electronics so that they can be stripped of their copper, gold, mercury and other precious metals.  The city environmental division where I live has three or four electronics recycling days a year.  Check with your city waste management or local environmental groups to find out if this is done in your area.

And again: Don't throw it in the bin if they didn't say they want it!  I hope this helps.
