You don't say where you live so this is difficult to answer. How long the training is anyway. As to what is learned, you learn how to be a police officer. Lots of report writing skills, physical training, weapons training, how to handle calls for service like domestic violence, handcuffing and arrest techniques, anything (almost) that officers do you will be exposed to in an academy.
