  1. Dykes are just another name for wirecutters. Some "dykes" also may have the cutting blades rotated 90 degrees so they are perpendicular to the handle. but, in short, they're wirecutters.

  2. No...not a pair of burly women from the bar.

A pair of side-cutters for wires, usually slightly smaller and easy to fit in your hand.

  3. A pair of Dykes, isn't two over active females.. It's a pair of snips, or a set of needle nosed pliers that have the wire cutting portion close to the fulcrum.

  4. They are actually "diagonal side cutting pliers", basically wire cutters.

"Diagonal" is shortened to "diags" which then gets pronounced (or mis-pronounced) as "dykes"

I still call 'em side cutters.

    Look here for a picture;http://www.sourcingmap.com/diagonal-side...

  5. you might be able to find some in your local harley shop

    edit:

glad some of you got the harley shop reference . have a great afternoon

  6. A wire cutter known as a "diagonal" cutter, hence the nickname, "dykes."

  7. Also more commonly known as "wire cutters."  Look in your toolbox or go to Loewes.

  8. 2 women tired of long shlong's -or- pair of wire cutters

    example:

Hay Joe: Get me a pair of dykes, Joe puts dykes on the bench. says " dude you don't ned a pair of dykes you need a pair of hoe's"

  9. Lineman's pliers.

  10. Wire cutters. But they prefer to be called "L*****n Americans".
