What kind of toy will keep a pit bull busy?

Question

School is starting again so I cant keep watching my dog and its too hot to put her outside. If the toy is too soft, she'll ruin it, if it's too hard, she wont play with it at all. She can rip apart a tennis ball in less than 10 minutes. Plus, my mom goes to work and my sister is sleeping cuz she works at night shifts

I give my dogs raw hide bones, pig ears and those types of chews and it really keeps them busy for long time.  Also, Bully sticks are great because they last so long and dogs go nuts on them.  We have a Kong toy but the dog doesn't stay interested for more than a few minutes, but I have heard good things about Kong's so maybe my dog is the exception.

Walking your dog in the morning and the evening for 30-45 minutes is invaluable.  They burn their energy and will be much more relaxed at home.  Pit bulls can get over heated so bring some water if it's warm or hot out.  Don't forget that if it's hot out their feet will be burning so take that into consideration when you choose when to walk your dog.  Good luck!

All four of my dogs like kongs. You could get one at the petstore and fill it with treats,peanut butter,etc.. and it will keep her busy for HOURS.

My friends pit-bull does the same thing, this may sound crazy but its true... she gave her pitt an old tire and a bowling ball, and she loves playing with them!

i have two pits and i know what you mean. If its a puppy i'd get her the real heavy duty raw hides. My older pit runs through those but they take my younger one awhile. The thing i use that works the best is the sprig pole. I dont know how to go about setting that up in the house tho. Mine wont play with anything that is really hard. And they to tear **** up if they arent entertained. I leave them in there kennels when im in class lol

I would recommend a Nylabone. They last far longer than any other type of bone or chew roy I know. Be aware that pit bulls have been know to kill other animals including humans. Please keep you dog under control. I used to be a pet store owner and refused to carry or get a pit bull for anyone

Toys that hid food.Raw hid bones.Little things that move and make sounds.Sometimes you can even buy a cat toy.

There's something at Petsmart made for pit bulls.  It looks like a Kongo but shaped as a bone and much tougher then a Kongo.  I would suggest getting that.

My dog loves to tear up soft toys also. Like if it has fleece or looks like a stuffed animal, the stuffing will come out in minutes. But I have noticed that when the stuffed toy is a tougher material like nylon. Or the vinyl or latex squeaky toys are good too, but that one really depends on the dog, because my aunt's boxer can take the squeaker out in a minutes.

How about a kitten?  Just kidding!   A lot of people I visit give their dogs Kong toys stuffed with something (cream cheese, peanut butter, etc. mixed with their dry food).  They freeze them first so it takes the dog longer to get the stuffing out.  Nylabones are a good choice for a chewer.  Mad Cow makes some stuffed toys that have a canvas like material for the outside, so it takes the dogs a little longer to destroy them.

I don't know if you've every tried a kong filled with frozen peanut butter. Keeps em busy for hours. And you can try a bubble machine and fill it with bacon-flavored bubbles. They love it.

P.S.  My dog is the same way!!  We haven't tried the Kong yet, but look at the review for the ball.  One has a video attached to it.  Also, make sure it's the red one that comes in 10".  The other is too small.

Get your dog a large meaty bone. Ham Hock, Beef Knukles. Large bones. Go to your local butcher and buy it. You can give it as is. Raw. Your dog will love it. Read up on this a bit if you dont trust me but I have 2 pits and I guarantee you this WILL WORK. And it will not make her sick.
