  1. it is some species of box turtle, and it is a juvinile. if you get them as a hatchling (which you should, it means its not wild caught) its around $50. they live longer then us, and they get to be about 5-6 inches long.

    read up on these guys before you purchase one. they truly are a life commitment. however, i have a hatchling eastern box and i love her to death.

  2. That adorable creature is a juvenile box turtle, though I'm not sure of the species (red color gun is shot on my PC, and determining coloration is impossible at the moment).

    They are long lived, and make excellent pets.  They are easy to care for.  Do your homework and research the animal (you may not like its appearance as an adult).  Know what it requires before you get one.
