What kind of turtles are these and what do they eat

the petshop gave us these green pelets in a small bag and told us it would last 4 months .

No question about it; red-eared sliders. You may want to remove the rocks from the tank. A bare bottom makes the tank easier to clean.

As far as food goes, I prefer to give live food: earthworms, fishes (not goldfish), and soft-bodied insects. When you can't get live food, strips of liver dusted in bonemeal are good.

They are RESs (Red Ear Sliders), and they eat a combination of floating food sticks, live fish & gut loadied insects, earth worms, shrimp, and green leafy water plants and vegetables.

They are Red Eared Sliders. They are the most common turtles for pets. After the 4 month supply of food i would recommend trout chow, it is cheap, and very healthy for the turtles, and they love it.

Sliders, Cooters , painted ,map and yellow bellied are require the same care and feeding and look the same.

If you have allot of $$$$ and start out with a 60 gal plus size tank and great filtration system for Aquatic turtles I say do it!

**Here is some important and a lot of info. Get feeder guppies or small feeder goldfish, frozen brown worms ..even meal worms. For the lil guys (under an inch and a half)you may have to cut up there food.

**Red-eared sliders, Gender especially juveniles, can be difficult to s*x. Gender in adults is determined by external physical characteristics and behavior. Males have longer fore claws (which are use in courtship), a longer tail length. Males are smaller in size and shell length. Turtles are considered juveniles till after 5 yrs old.

Did you know that they need to bask under a reptile light for  8 to 10 hrs a day for the vitamin D that  they need to grow.

Leave the heater on 75 to 78 degrees always.

Their water needs to be clean otherwise they get sick easily from dirty water cause they p**p allot.

You need a good filter system?

**You need to feed them feeder guppies, goldfish or minnows for protein and calcium daily.

**They need leafy greens for vitamins at least 3 to 4 times a week.

And a big tank 55 gallons or more..
