  1. You do NOT need a digital TV after 2009. that's a myth planted by the electronic companies. I still can't believe anyone still believes that bullshit. that whole thing only applies to the people who only have basic analogue TV with the rabbit ears, and even then, you can get a converter so you can continue to pick up the basic TV channels on your old TV. if you have cable, satelite, etc. then it does NOT apply to you what-so-ever.

So once again. no matter what kinda TV you have, even if u have a TV from the 1950s, it will still work after 2009. Just get the little converter box if you don't have cable or satelite, and you're good to go. If you have cable or satelite, then 2009 will not affect you in the least bit.

And so because so many people believe that you need a new TV after 2009, you can go out and buy a top quality, used, somewhat new analogue TV really cheap. I suggest doing that.

  2. A 26" LCD from one of the two top brands with the best performance AND reliability, Panasonic or Sony. At a slightly lower price point, the Toshiba is very good followed, perhaps, by Sharp. 1080p resolution is not necessary at this screen size!

Get some education! Read over the 11/07 and 3/08 HDTV articles in Consumer Reports. You can get these at your local public library. Also, see http://www.lcdtvbuyingguide.com for general info. And STAY AWAY from the cheapies, like Vizio, Polaroid, Insignia, Element, Durabrand, Ilo, RCA, and Westinghouse, to name a few. See, http://www.hdguru.com/your-new-disposabl...

  3. Whatever you finally decide, get a High Definition TV or else you'll have to buy another one in 2009.

    I'd get an LCD.

  4. Well if you are looking for a TV in the 20"-29" range you have the option of getting a HD CRT (Tube TV) or a HD LCD flat panel they don’t make plasmas that small. Might I suggest sticking with these three brands though Samsung, Sony, and Sharp, they may cost more up front but in the long run I believe you will enjoy the build quality and picture quality over for example, a Vizio or a Memorex.

Here is a 26" Samsung with front speakers for optimum sound quality, 4000:1 contrast which is all you need in this size of a TV, and it comes with the standard HDMI input and 720p resolution and a 1-year parts labor warranty (not a bad TV for the price):
