Question:

What kind of tv stand and media storage?

I have a 36 inch flatscreen tv that is sitting on top of my old entertainment center at the moment. I want to mount my tv on the wall and need a new stand anyway (as this old one is falling apart). My problem is that I'm not sure what to do with all of my movies? The small tv stands would never hold them all (I have a ton of dvd's and vhs tapes) . Doors are also a plus because of my 2yr old. Any ideas as to how to store my movies, have a place for my dvd/vcr playstation..., be able to mount my tv on the wall, and not have it all look rediculous?

  1. I'd recommend a short, but wide entertainment center, with a couple of bookcases on either side.  You can find this type of furniture at most furniture stores, and even get a 'triangular' bookshelf to go at the outside ends of the bookcases, to help give it all a 'built in' look.

I'd recommend securing any tall bookcases to the wall studs, to prevent them from tipping forward if they are climbed on by children  (It does happen, and kids have been injured).

You might even consider having cabinets installed (yes, like what is in your kitchen, hehe)  A lot of custom cabinet builders are offering case goods for entertainment units, etc.

Your imagination is the limit, hehehe.. there are a lot of options available.
