What kind of valve cover gaskets do i need?

i have a 2000 crown vic 4,6 and i am going to put new valve cover gaskets on.What kind should i get and will i need anything to go with it.

  1. original ford is cool, felpro is not bad either. I do recommend the sylicone on the sharp corners, that's were you usually get leaks.  


  2.   Any auto supply outlet should have the exact gaskets you need.

       When removing the old ones cleanup the block surface carefully with say a s***w driver until smooth.

      I like to use a non hardening gasket "goo" on the block,then when installing the new gaskets tighten the cover until snug.

      Just snug;you don't want to bend the cover.

  3. Get fel-pro cork gasket that is what the mechanic's use And some orange permatex

    1. Put the permatex on the valve cover just a thin layer to help seel and help hold the gasket

    2. put the gasket down on the valve cover

    3.and when tightening up the bolts go front to back side to side
