  1. Best meter you can get is a Fluke brand meter ( purchase at electrical supply house about 200 dollars up) very expensive now if you are going to just check some minor circuits ohms volts etc and not do this for a living buy a digital volt ohm meter from Sears or Home Depot. Try meter if you don't like it they will take it back. around 40 dollars up.

  2. Fieldpiece is a good meter.Go to an a/c supply house to buy one.

If you are not going to use it much you can buy a cheaper one at Lowe's or Home Depot for 30$-50$.

    Just make sure it's a multimeter.Ohms,volts,and amps.

  3. Dont buy one at radio shack, they suck. I would go to your local hardware store. They usually have some good quality ones.

  4. Harbor freight sells them for about $10 unless you want an amprobe.Or try a online search

  5. For occasional DIY use, Harbor Freight frequently puts theirs on sale for $3.

  6. I bought a DMM at Radio Shack about ten years ago. I've used it ever since then and never had a problem with it. (Maybe the ones they sell now are c**p though, I don't know.)
