What kind of wire do i need for my car amplifier?

My amp is 1200W max and my sub is also 1200W max. Do i need 10gauge, 8 gauge or another type of wire??

  1. Your amp is probably like a 600 watt rms something like.  In all reality you don't need extremely thick wire and expensive kits, but either of those gauges you listed will work just fine.  On my system the main power lead coming from the battery is 12 gauge, multi-strand primary wire and it gets louder than all the little honda-tards and people with rice burners whos mommies and daddies spent thousands on their system


  2. No question about it. You should get 4 gauge wire. 8 gauge will get warm and maybe even hot. I would suggest high quality copper wire too. There are some cheaper materials out there but I would stay away from them.

    if ya dont know wat that is...

    i would go with either 8 or 4 gauge..

    4 gauge would be safer
