  1. Virgin supply their own modems, other modems will not work on their system especially for the cable one.

They quickly lose their sense on humour if you connect other equipment to it without their permission and especially if you cause problems to the system. Read the Terms and Conditions of your contract

  2. I am on Virgin Media and have been for the past 2 years (when I first started using it, it was still called Telewest). In all that time I have been using the same Netgear wireless router and never had any problems. I have heard from others that Belkin routers are not as good but going from personal experience I would definitely recommend a Netgear router.

P.S. I'm running two computers wirelessly from the router. One is on the same floor as the router and the other is two floors above the router and everything works just fine.

  3. If your broadband modem connects to your computer's ethernet cable with an RJ45 (cat 5/6) network cable (It looks like a larger version of a phone cord) then any "typical" wireless router will work fine for you.  ( For example a Linksys WRT54G, WRT54GS... etc.)

You will plug the RJ45 that is currently going into your computer to the WAN port of the router, and then plug your computer into one of the 4 extra jacks on the router for a wired connection, then you can connect to the wireless radio with any comptuer that has a wireless network card.

  4. Forget about ADSL, its a modem for a phone line, NLT is cable. Get Linksys wireless G router, don't get wireless N because the whole street will pick up your signal. Wireless G is suitable for in the house.

  5. http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cu...  any of these will work with virgin cable broadband you only get a free router if you take out there 20mb connection,

  6. just ask virgin for a wireless modem chances are they will get 1 for you

  7. Not the ADSL, you need a Cable Broadband wireless router. go to www.argos.co.uk or pop down to your local argos store, and pick a router which is suitable for cable broadband such as virgin media, not adsl suitable for bt, etc. Hope that helps!

  8. you need a DSL router not an ADSL router many people say it is the same thing but it isn't as a guy from virgin told me when i had virgin broadband at a houe last year

netgears rangemax is a good choice

good signal and is compatable with virgin

  9. belkin F5D92

    XX series

  10. Linksys WRT150N. Probably the best router i have used. I did have a netgear one but unfortunately the signal wasn't strong enough.

  11. Netgear tend to be the best i find.

  12. forget the adsl ,netgear is better and get type g i have it at home with vergin media and it works perfectly fine. and vergin media suplied me with the wirless router and the singnal is rich

  13. Is Virgin providing you with the modem?  The chances are that you're going to get the modem from them but you could use *any* wireless router after that.  My favorites are the LinkSys routers, but any really do work.

  14. your right , "ADSL"  wont work you need "cable" router:
