What kind of wood was used to make the stocks of Swedish Mauser's?

The 6.5 By 55 models.I have found this gun stock very difficult to refinish

  1. Looked like birch to me.


  2. I refinished several gun stocks. I first sanded the stock and then rubbed them out with linseed oil

  3. Waln ut on the 1895 models..Read under the 3rd picture on this link..
