I'll have my Bachelor's in English and am looking for work experience ideas for getting an MBA.

Is work experience something as simple as being an Administrative Assistant or does it need to be upper-level? What kind of work area is usually the best to get experience in? Non-profit? Marketing company?

  1. MBA program prefer students with some work experience after the bachelors degree for several reasons:

    1. They get an insight into how an organization operates.

    2. They learn to handle responsibility.

    3. they can observe the work of their superiors in the workplace.

    4. They can share their work experiences with other students in the MBA program.

    5. They gain maturity and decision making experience

Any job that provides the above is beneficial. Students with higher level managerial experience may be accepted into executive MBA programs. You may decide to continue working and enroll in a local part-time program. Or you may choose a good full-time or accelerated program, or even a distance learning program.

Many schools accept students directly after graduation, if they have a high GPA and GMAT score. Some programs are designed specifically for students with little or no work experience. You can learn more at the Official MBA Guide, a free service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed.
