  1. what does this have to do with  starting a family,,,,,procreation is not on a time limit???     most if not everyone that works in aviation works shifts planes . fly 24/7   365 days a year,,,366 this year!  so there always has to be crew working,,,

  2. My neighbor used to be one and had to quit to find a new job because he wanted to spend more time with his family.

Hours are all over the place and there is no consistency from week to week.  It is hard to make any plans being an ATC unless you are on vacation.

  3. First thing, if you are over 30 forget it... They will not hire you... The only industry left where age discrimination is rampant and legal.

Controllers, as of late, have been forced to work six day weeks at 10hrs a day.  It is shift work, but you will typically work the same shift each week.

Like building a home.. its all about location, location, location.

Working New York or Atlanta TRACON can be taxing on the home life. Working the tower at Tecumtarry, NM is like watching grass grow.
