Please help. I spent so much time and money in a university studying music but now I find it was a waste with no job opportunities. Any ideas? Can I go back to school to get a masters in a different field or would I have to have a bachelors in whatever field I would get a masters in??

  1. go speak with an academic adviser from your university in the college of music...they should be able to guide you much better than anyone on yahoo.

  2. Have you considered working in movie production or game development?

Have you considered composing music for other people to perform?

Have you investigated job opportunities with local symphony?  They will respect your degree even if you are part of the business end rather than the performance end.

You might want to look into a MBA.  It is a very general degree that is useful for a lot of different employment opportunities.

  3. How about if you sell musical instruments.

  4. what about a disc jockey for a radio station? or work in a studio or something along those lines dealing with music.

or someone who books shows at concert venues. i don't know what requirements these jobs have, but it's just a thought. if you like music then these jobs would be fun

  5. Funny thing is, you can get a masters in almost anything regardless of what your undergraduate was in.  I would suggest you do that so as not to totally waste your education.  But this time make sure your masters in in something you might enjoy working in.  Good Luck.
