I am a doctor and my husband is also a doctor. We are thinking of immigrating to canada and work there. Can anyone give me a website where they tell us whether they need doctors in canada. The website needs to be related to the canadian embassy.

  1. I think being a doctor is a huge benefit to Canada and you will be welcomed with open arms. You will also in return, receive a lot of very friendly welcoming people who will utterly respect you for opting to contribute your services to Canada.

  2. Canada needs Doctors, where I live and where my parents live in Saskatchewan, we have a shortage of Doctors, especially where my parents are, they held a patient lottery to pick names to get in to see the Doctor and be put on his patient list.

The shortage of Doctors is very commonplace in a lot of smaller communities, hospitals have been shut down and are only being used for Emerg and Long Term Care, forcing maternity and other patients to travel hours away. Even the larger centres such as Calgary Alberta are having a hard time recruiting Doctors, and have been forced to scale back hours and even closing clinics.

The shortage is all across Canada. I have had family members who have been unable to get in to see the Oncologist due to the patient overload and as a result have passed away quicker then they would have had if they had been able to get in to get some form of treatment, and the patient volume is so high in some places that the elderly are being left with out adequate care from a family physician and are slipping through the medical cracks and not being treated, they are pretty much being left for nature to take its course, they did that to my Grandmother, it took almost 8 months for her to get in to see the oncologist, because her family doctor was so busy and did not refer her until her cancer had spread to the point there was nothing that could be done about it. And if we would have had a medical system that was not over worked that would not have been the case, her oncologist said if she would have been in to see him earlier they could have put her on radiation treatments and very well could have stopped the progression of cancer, my story is just one of the many that you would hear.

The website I have submitted for you to check out is the official website for immigration. You can check out our doctor shortage in any newspaper.

Edit: Surgery Wait times are a disaster in Canada. As well as MRI wait times etc.

  3. Please come to Canada!!!!!

I can't answer your questions, but we are in desperate need. Especially in Regina SK!

    We have very affordable housing.

Hardly any comute. You can get anywhere in the entire city in 20 mins.

  4. Look up hospitals in Canada and talk to them and give them your credentials and see if they are hiring.  You likely will need to take courses here to be qualified to practice medicine in Canada.

  5. Yes, we are in great need of doctors, that is what our health care system is lacking, in turn causing the long wait times. Our doctors are being poached by countries willing to pay big salaries while they bleed the average person dry for said services. You will probably have expedited immigration process if you a Doctor in a field that is sorely needed here. General Practitioners are top on that list.

One of the things to be careful of is to be sure that your qualifications are acceptable for registration in Canada. Some foreign trained doctors do not have enough years of academics, or residency  to qualify immediately.
