I made a movie for my friend using homemade movies we recorded on our mac computer I have tried using a MATSHITA DVD-R disc to burn the movie on to, but each time I try it says there is a unidentified error. I was wondering if it was the computer or the disc I'm using.

  1. Either DVD-RW or DVD+RW disc is OK.

Or you may take a look at this guide, it will teach you how to burn movie to DVD on Mac, it works pretty well for me

  2. use a blank disc with as many Mbs you need

  3. Your question, "What kind of OS disc...?" Huh? Was that a typo?

Give us more info. You could call a doctor and ask, "Why does my stomach hurt?" but he needs more info before he can answer. What version of Mac OS is installed on your Mac? What burning software are you using? For an original Superdrive that came from Apple, you should be using either the Finder with a disk image or iDVD which comes with all Macs that are sold by Apple with a Superdrive.

I really don't think the brand of media is critical. Matshita is a good brand so why shouldn't it work? I use any odd-brand of disc for 20 cents each here in Shanghai on either of my Macs and no problems.

What model of Mac are you using? What drive are you using, original internal drive from Apple, replacement internal drive, external USB drive, external Firewire drive? When you have problems with an external drive or a replacement drive, your first place to turn for help is the company that sold the drive.

If you are not using iDVD, you need to contact the company that makes the burning software.

If this is the original drive that came from Apple, run Disk Utility to repair the hard drive. If it finds problems, that could be why it isn't working.

No matter what drive or software you are using, try changing the burn speed. The way of doing this varies with the software you use to burn but it is always a listed option in the window just before you click on the final "Burn" button. For example, even if the drive is advertised as "24X speed burn of DVD-R", choose one-third that speed. It seems as though drive makers try again and again until they manage to burn one disc at 24X speed so they can claim the drive is "24X".

  4. It May be your apple computer, but i am guessing it is the disk... you are using a specific  MATSHITA  type, it was like that on my apple powerbook g4... what you need, is ones made by (and i know it sounds stupid) tesco, asda or something without a ''label'' such as sony matshita etc.

    i hope this helps you...
