  1. I used the same soap I use on my clothes. Personally for me Buying dreft is more expensive and the baby lays against me all the time anyway. If it doesnt bother them to lay on me then it wont bother them to use the same soap on their clothes.

I chose to wash everything at least once so that  everything was soft and smelled good. :)

  2. oh my, where's the punctuation?????

yes, wash ALL clothes and sheets including new ones and any given to you.  It's dreft. All also has a product, I believe, called "free and clear" that you can use and it's cheaper than Dreft.

Hard to say what else you should do to prepare, I don't know what else you have already done!

  3. With my first child I only used Dreft, but now that I'm on baby #4 I wash all the clothes with tide, I just double rinse the babies.

  4. You don't need to use Dreft.  I've had four newborns, a couple with more sensitive skin.  I just used arm & hammer or purex, both of which worked for me growing up with somewhat sensitive skin.  I itched if my mom changed brands without telling me.  Don't feel you need to bother with Dreft.

  5. I did not use a different laundry detergent for my babies. I figure I am going to be holding my babies next to me most of the day and my clothes are going to be all over my baby too so what was the difference. My babies (now 4 & 5) never had any problems with regular detergents.

Some babies do have sensitivities to these things and in that case everything would need to be washed crib sheets and all in drift or baby detergent.

  6. I've always just used regular laundry soap ( but not the cheap brands because they can be really harsh ) and I also use fabric softener...every baby is different, if yours tends to have sensitive skin you may want to use "ALL baby" or the dreft.

  7. Dreft

  8. wash everything in soap flakes..

  9. i used all free and clear. its cheaper and works the same

  10. i always use non bio ive never had no prob

  11. personally I have never used special soap for my kids. I feel that if you do you can build up them to be allergic to the reg soap. I do use fabric softener.  you should always wash all the stuff that will come contact with the baby. The baby's stuff that comes from friends and from the store new have been around dust, and even possible chemicals being exposed. Also in the store stuff that has been shipped and stored have been in many conditions. I remember reading about a woman who was putting up a baby bed and found a snake that came from the place it came from. gl.....

  12. ALL baby

  13. this probably should be in the newborn and baby section but um..johnson and johnsons baby soap.

  14. I use Purex baby (half the price of Dreft) always buy unscented/non perfume and don't use dryer sheets

Wash her sheets, receiving blankets, socks , towels, wash cloths

Only wash newborn clothes for now (leave the tags on the rest , just

in case she is too big or small so you don't waste a whole season's

wardrobe) If you don't have one already buy a swaddler , I have a great

one made by Halo ...it zips up like a blanket sleeper and have a detachable velcro swaddle feature...trust me buy 2 you need it!

Make some dinners and freeze them now, finish his/her room and any

other projects before baby arrives you prolly won't have time after she is born.

Have you finished your pre-admittion paperwork , taking hospital tour,

have someone to help with baby...clean for you...

Do something relaxing for yourself, I got a pedicure...It was awesome

since I hadn't been able to touch my feet in months!

    Congrats & Good Luck!!

  15. ive always used snuggle for my daughter..Its smells good and makes the clothes soft for baby..! also you want to wash your brand new clothes also..even tho there brand new there stiff and you want to make them easy and comfy for your baby..!!!

    Good luck..and congrats..!

  16. arm & hammer detergent is pretty good

  17. I actually use all baby.

  18. It depends on the baby.I washed every thing with dreft or the Ivory baby soap for the first few mo.I love the smell of that stuff, anyways after about 3 mths I started using regular detergent I would wash a few thing with dreft and the other baby soap and see if it breaks them out and go from there

  19. I never used Dreft as my son did not have sensitive skin.  I used Tide Unscented for the first few months and then switched to a regular Tide, but with no fabric softener.

My son is now a year.  I still don't use fabric softener.
