I don't think it was any certain kind of gas mask .... at least not one I can recognize

This question does remind me of one of my pet peaves in video games though

WHY THE FRICK WOULD ANYONE WEAR A GAS MASK INTO COMBAT FOR NO REASON AT ALL!!!

I've worn gas masks a lot, we had to were the thing all of the time prior to invading Iraq, all you can think about is "when can I take this freakin thing off!!"

I don't understand why game designers continue to put gas masks on soldiers unless their was actually a threat of gas in the game.

It's a trademark mask, they're all black and specially made for them. I've only heard it called the "SAS gas mask," I don't think it has a specific model name.
