  1. I'm not sure what you mean by this.  Accommodations are generally done in an educational setting that help your child be successful in school.  It is important for children with ADHD to have very predictable schedules, consistent and fair discipline and plenty of time to get rid of some pent up energy outside.

Are you looking to find ways to help an ADHD child at home?

    General thoughts:

    1.  Structure - like school, kids with ADHD need (and can benefit from) a consistent, reliable, and expected schedule at home.

    2.  Support

    3.  Encouragement

    4.  Advocacy

    5.  Strategies

If you want to get more specific, please let me know what types of things you are asking about (homework, study skills, organization, etc...).

  3. The school does most of the accomodations such as taking longer on tests, being able to get up and take a break during the test, having things read to you, a diff. style of teaching, velcro under the desk so you stop fidgeting, etc...at home theres somethings that you can do such as behavior reward charts.  A schedule listed on the wall (am, afterschool, pm, etc)  i have one for my son and it helps him alot such as an a.m chart like 7:00 wake up 7:10 eat breakfast, etc. it sounds silly but it does work because they get overwhelmed easy.  Also the behavior reward chart should be based on his age and problems at home such as going to bed good, sitting down at the dinner table and not jumping around etc.  You can put star stickers on every thing he does good that day and at the end of the week if he gets so many stars he gets rewarded with a movie, a treat, icecream, something.  There are also alot of books out there for helping an ADHD child at home.
