  1. Well, most adults in that age range ( I know for a fact :), don't really like games at a BBQ. I'm talking about card games or board games. Keep it simple. Music is good, whatever type your Mom loves. If you have a camcorder, go around and ask each guest to say a little something or tell a little short story about your Mom and say Happy birthday.  People can be funny or sentimental, whatever they want. When it's all done you can give it to your Mom and she can watch it later.

If you are at a park you might want to see if people want to play some baseball or horseshoes but for the most part, people are happy to just relax and talk and laugh.

  2. Tons!

First, what kind of BBQ? Outside with sunny weather(Im assuming)?? Will there be drinking? If you have yourself a good crowd and good food, you shouldnt have to worry too much about specific activities to keep people entertained. Have some music going, for one.  There are soo many fun fact/trivia types of adult board games that your guests may like. I know its kinda cheesey, but some super good ones are Cranium, Fact or c**p, Apples to Apples, or..that one where you make up a fake definition.

I hope you guys have fun!

  3. Music

    Horse shoes

    corn hole

    karaoke

  4. Lay out all the fixings, heat the grill or two.

Let the folks Pick their own fixings and cook their own Burgers or Steaks.

It is fun and very interesting to see the different combos they come up with.

Give them lots of choices for seasonings and condiments, onions, peppers, cheeses, pickles, olives, etc.

    Have fun.

  5. smores

    night laser tag

    music

    horse shoes

  6. horseshoes, croquet, badminton

  7. food and beer

  8. Depends on where you will be... A local park with room to play softball or touch football?  In the back yard?  What do ya'll do when you get together for other events?  We play dominoes and canasta.  Have the kids and dogs out chasing frisbees and balls. Plenty of lawn chairs with cup holders for everyone else to sit around and chat.  Bring several cameras and give a couple to the older kids.  Remind them to line up the shots first.  Develop on a CD and e-mail everyone copies of the best.  Make Mom a scrapbook when it's over.  Maybe ask everyone to jot down a memory to include in the book.

  9. This is not an activity but I have to suggest that if you can afford  it, hire at least one helper so that you can have more time to interact with your mom.

That will most likely be her favorite part of the party!  Be happy and have time to enjoy with her!!!

  10. BBQ's are great just because they are a free for all.  Have some tables set out for people to sit at and chat.  Have music playing and encourage some dancing.  That is fun.  Have people write down (on note cards) some fun riddles and have everyone grab one out and try to figure it out.  You can also just have people write down facts about themselves and have everyone grab one out and try to guess who it is.  Have fun!

  11. Is there going to be kids, teens or college-age people there? If so here is a helpful article ---

It's written for a July 4th barbecue but it could done for any bbq!

    Have fun!
