Sports, like volleyball, softball, dance and karate?

Enrichment courses, like Spanish, Reader's Theater, and Science Club?

Art activities, like Woodworking, Jewelry making, Drawing and Sewing?

Or a nice variety of all three?

  1. well i am in middle school, and my school offers some sports, and somecooking classes and that stuff. i would really like it if they had somekind of woodworking or computer things, because i am really into it.

  2. Def all.... every child is differrent and it would definately broaden our youth

  3. My daughter is in elementary school and it's really sad that art, PE, music and science are not offered in the curriculum - except for programs the PTA has paid for and insisted be included.  Our art & music programs are run by parents, and if there's not a parent willing to do it in a particular grade they don't get art or music.

So I would love if they added art, music, a drama club, any sort of science club - anything, really!  Most kids who are interested in sports are already playing in private organizations in our area because the parents know there's no point waiting for the school to get them moving.

  4. A huge variety, but remember that it has to be feasible. Schools can't afford to hire any more teachers and have these after school problems, it's really quite sad. I would LOVE to do metal shop. My school has the equipment, we just don't have a teacher! We've also got a science club...on Thursday we are going to do a spleenectomy of a cat!

  5. Sports are good.

I'd like my kids to learn French instead of Spanish.   Academic clubs like a science club would be nice.  Yes, art activities are great because my kids like art, but having painting sessions gets too messy at home.  I think it would be cool to have some 'one-time' classes on occassion to on a number of topics.  You could have guest visitors that come to talk to the kids about a number of topics.  A fire department could do a session on fire safety and let the kids see their equipment.  You could have a career night and let people from a number of careers talk about their jobs and backgrounds.  You could have a professional athlete come talk to the kids about his job, etc...etc...
