  2. I cook a lot in mine. Such as: Soup Beans, Chicken, Stew Beef, Vegtables, Roast, Corn beef & Cabbage, and Chili.    

  3. They are great for beef or pork roasts. It's the only way I cook them. They come out very tender.

  4. Crock Pot Chicken Salsa Curry

    10 chicken thighs-bone in

    1 jar of your fav salsa

    1/2 onion chopped

    1 tablespoon curry (or about 1/2 if you don't like a strong curry taste)

    1/2 cup sour cream

    Place the chicken in the crock pot. Mix the onion, curry and salsa. Pour over the chicken and cook on low for about 6-8 hours.

    When the chicken is done take it out of the crock pot and put on a serving plate. Add the sour cream and mix well. Spoon the sauce over the chicken.

    This would go well with rice or cous cous.

    If you don't have crock pot I would think that you could do this in you oven in a well wrapped pan on low (about 200) check it though since it may cook faster. I haven't done it in the oven but as I said I think it should work. I did it in the crock pot and it was awesome. This recipe is easy to do smaller portions of as well.


  5. Almost any kind of meat does well in a slow cooker.  Right now I'm making pepper steak and will let it cook for about 6 hours.  I've done whole chickens, pork roast.

  7. SLOW COOKER POT ROAST

    1 rump or shoulder roast

    2 cans cream of mushroom soup (use the garlic variety for one of the cans if possible)

    1 can water

    2 cloves garlic, minced

    1 1/2 teaspoons salt

    1/2 teaspoon pepper

    1 teaspoon basil

    1 teaspoon oregano

    6 small, red or golden potatoes cut into quarters

    ½ onion diced (if you don't have onions, use 1 tsp onion powder)

    3 cups chopped carrots

    3 cups mushrooms, whole or chopped

    Set slow cooker on low. Chop onions. Remove any larger pieces of fat from roast. Add roast, water, soup, herbs and spices, and onions to slow cooker and let simmer for 4-6 hours. After 3-5 hours, add the rest of the vegetables.

    Let simmer for 1-2 hours and serve. A lot of this is by your preference; herbs and seasonings may be increased or decreased, if desired.

    SLOW COOKER RICE PUDDING

    4 eggs, beaten

    1 qt. milk, scalded

    1 c. sugar

    1 tsp. vanilla

    1/2 tsp. cinnamon

    1/4 tsp. nutmeg

    2/3 c. chopped dates or raisins

    3 to 3 1/2 c. rice, cooked

    In slow cooker, combine all ingredients. Cover. Cook at medium setting for 2 hours. Stir after 1 hour. Reduce temperature to keep warm for serving or chill in refrigerator and serve cold. Serve with light cream, if desired.

    Makes 10 to 12 servings.

  8. After soaking overnight, you can cook beans in a slow cooker.

  9. My favorite, In the morning, before you go to work, put in a pack of pork chops, without the bones, and 2-3 cans of golden mushroom soup.  Sooooo good.  The pork chops are tender and falling apart when you are ready for supper around 5-5:30.  Cook on low.  I also like to add some potatoes.
