What kind of job will provide you with a place to live in West L.A. or the west SAN FERNANDO Valley, in CA? how much $ do you need to live off of each month to live in Southern California? How in the world do you move away from your parents and become self sufficient in southern, ca , so as to go to school? Just what kinds of jobs can you do to accomplish this?

Remember, the cost of living in CA is extremely high. Finding dependable roommates, a cost efficient apartment hopefully with utilities included, and an fuel efficient car are absolutely imperative.

Then, of all of the jobs for a college student, waiter/waitress, is the best choice. They have flexible hours. Restraunts/bars/grills understand the demands on a student and are usually understanding. The tips is an upscale steak house or seafood restraunt that serves liquor are the best. More money spent on the food and drinks equates to bigger tips. The most important thing is being able to meet immediate need. You don't have to wait for two weeks to receive a paycheck.

A good rule of thumb though...money for three months worth of bills is a good safety net to get you going.

When my boyfriend went to college out there he had 2 other roomates.  The rent is about 800 or so depending or the area that you want ot be in but all of the apartment and things that are close to college will either be rented or the rent will be higher and you will need a roomate.  What he did was became a waiter so that we could make ends meet through his tips.  So I would suggest looking for a roomate and finding a job that pays daily or that you can make tips from because life as a student is hard.
