What kinds of problems does trash in the streets and in the ocean do?

  1. It clogs the drains and gutters which causes flooding in the streets.  In the ocean it damage the corals on the sea bed.

Trash in the streets can get in the gutter  and go down the storm drain to the ocean.  Upon reaching the ocean, things like the plastic from six packs of soda can get wrapped around bird's beaks or legs.  Animals like whales and dolphins can swallow bottle or plastics, which can cause severe helath problems, inevitably causing them to die.

      If the trash still contains chemicals- for instance a motor oil bottle with oil still in the container- it cause fish to die, and the oil to coat the outside of bird's wings, making it impossible for them to fly.

      Other chemicals have the possibility of causing defects in the offspring of fish and other ocean life.  DDT for instance.
