I don't mean anything scientific like botany, just kinds of careers that revolve around growing/caring for plants I guess. Was wondering if there was anything not as obvious (like plant nurseries, farming?,etc) Sorry if this is a dumb post, I was just curious :)

  1. There are many careers in this field. With a degree in horticulture you can:

    1. Plantsman - scout the world for plants.

    2. Horticulturist

  2. something dearly needed right now is someone in research and  development and diseases.....the world needs food... and anything someone can do to find out how to grow plants that are disease resistant or to be able to identify and cure plant diseases that threaten our food supply is a great job for a bright young person with a degree in Horticulture!!.... but, of course, that's scientific stuff.... and if you're not up to that......................

  3. Yes there are quite a lot.  Um where do I start.  Nursery Management,Floriculture or growing flowers either as potted plants or cut flowers, for example cut roses or African Violets, or Poinsettias or  as a Florist on the selling end, or research for someone like say genetically engineered crops or hydroculture, growing tropical plants, grass and sod production, soil science to name just a few. Extension service and Conservation.  Landscape and Landscape Architecture. The list goes on and on.
