What kinds of things should i take on a trip to north carolina?

in about 3 weeks, i'm probably going to north carolina with my boyfriend and his family. we'd be going for a week. i know that the drive is going to be very long. what should i take to keep myself entertained? and what kinds of things should i take for the week? also, what type of clothing should i pack? we live in central florida.

If you are from Florida, you know what to do about the insects. The weather is about the same.

Otherwise, a couple of travel books, one mainstream, one "off the beaten path"

Being organized will impress your boyfriend's family and decrease your stress level. Bring a few books to read including one somewhat intellectual read.

Two pairs of hiking/walking shoes

Two nice outfits, but probably nothing super dressy

Shorts and t-shirts (pack about 8 or 9 sets because if you go out for a hike in the morning you may want fresh clothes to change into. It can be super humid like Florida.)

Bring a pair of jeans too in case there is a cool evening

Rain jacket will be handy, they have the afternoon showers too.

bathing suit (one or two) - bring a cover up if you are staying in a hotel for the walk from the room to the pool.

As the other person said bug spray and sunscreen.

The drive will be long. In addition to books, try a journal or crossword/soduku type of book. A good copy of People or another tabloid might be fun too.
