What king of fish is better for a 29 gal?

i had goldfish in it before but they never gotton any bigger than they were when i brung them from the store.

29 gallons is a good sized tank. as long as its filtered you could have most kinds of fish in it including goldfish (but no more than four).

if you wanted to heat it you could have smaller and medium sized tropical freshwater fish like tetras, guppies, dwarf gouramis, bristlenose catfish, clown loaches, barbs, molly's, platies or even betta splendens.

i don't really know much about salt water so i wont say.

Is this saltwater?  If so I have the same size.  There are many choices for a 29g you just have to make a list and investigate before you buy.  I'm not going to drone on because I see you have goldfish and I'm going to assume it's freshwater.  Happy fish keeping!
