The Manor had its origins as part of the manor of Hampton-in-Arden and over time it passed through the hands of King Edward I, Westminster Abbey, Elizabeth I and James I. It then passed to the Grevilles, later the Earls of Warwick. It was then passed to the Wilsons who sold the estate in the 1840s.
