  1. The king of the luau is a piggy.

  2. Kalua Pig, Lau Lau, Lomi Salmon, Opihi, Poke, Black Crab, Sashimi, Poi, Sweet Potato, Fish, Chicken, Teriyaki Beef, Taro Rolls, Rice, Fresh Fruit and Haupia, just to name a few.

  3. At a luau that I went to there were a lot of citrus fruits and honey baked ham.

  4. king poi, king pineapple . . .

  5. it depends, but usually poi or pig... then other things like salads, fruit, and other hawiian delicases!!

  6. it depends...

    ~ kalua pig (pulled pork)

~ lomi salmon (tomatoes, onions, and salmon with salt to taste.)

~ poi (kinda like mashed sweet potato but thicker and a little tart.)

    ~ potato and/or macaroni salad

~ ahi poke (raw ahi with onions, hawaiian(sea) salt, chili pepper, sesame seeds and sometimes shoyu(soy sauce to taste).

    ~ rice (usually white.)

    ~ vegetable salad

above are the standards..below are additions that some luaus use...

~ steamed or grilled mahi mahi (some luaus put a mango salsa on top.)

~ lau lau (taro leaves with pork and/or beef salted with hawaiian salt...sometimes butter fish is added.  some may even use chicken.)

~ chicken long rice (rice noodles with chicken in chicken broth with ginger and garlic to taste.)

    ~ sweet potato

for dessert they usually have things like banana cream pie, coconut cream pie, haupia, hula pie, etc...it varies from luau to luau.

that's pretty much it.  i think...sometimes they'll have steak or teriyaki chicken too.

    aloha!

  7. Poi, which is basically pale purple wallpaper paste. You're not allowed to use utensils - you have to sort of twirl it onto two of your fingers and then jam it sloppily in your mouth.  It's made from taro, a plant indigenous to Hawaii.

Usually a whole pig is roasted and then the meat is shredded.  This is called kalua pork, and it's a big Hawaiian tradition.

Taro rolls, which basically look and taste just like your average dinner rolls except that they're purple, are another staple of the luau.

Lots of fruits and juices are often available (pineapple, etc.).

Haupia, a sort of coconut jelly, is often served for dessert.  It's quite tasty.

  8. Goat.
