We have two cats and have been using Fresh Scent. It works well enough, but I hate the scent of the perfume in it. Then I tried a different scent of the Arm & Hammer brand, and now the room the litter box is in smells terrible.

What works for you?

  1. I use TidyCat. No odor from the litter or the poo. It's great stuff. :-D

  2. Tidy cat mixed in with those blue crystal things. The crystals mask the smell better than the tidy cat did, but didn't clump. Tidy cat clumped great but all those tiny pieces that broke off and couldn't be scooped got way too smelly way too fast. We would mix in some arm and hammer cat litter (which kinda smells like baby powder deodorant..) in and tada, it was perfect.

  3. Try a product that I use and love for my litter box (2 cats). It is called Innofresh Pet odor absorber . It is an activated carbon filter that really does the job. All I do is keep a couple of these clipped to side of litter box and forget about it. Now, frankly, it doesn't matter what litter I buy now. These little odor absorbers work great. I buy these on line from www.innofresh.com    The litter with little carbon pieces works ok, but not as well as this odor absorber.

  4. Tidy cat you can't even smell a thing.

  5. I have two cats as well and I use Tidy Cats Scoop for Multiple Cats: Immediate Odor Control.  It clumps really well and there is never any odor.

I used to buy it at Petco, but I've noticed at Target it's about five dollars cheaper- only about $7.50 for the 20 pound.

  6. Tidy cat Multi cat or Tidy cat small spaces, both clumping. I usuallt get the unscented stuff because my cats hate the scented kind.

  7. As far as clay litter goes, I swear by Scoop Away. The urine clumps very well and as long as the kitty covers his/her stool, it doesn't smell awful for long. It's important to sort the clumped urine and stool from the clean litter daily. It makes the litter last longer, kitty likes clean litter, and your home will smell better. I have not used any form of cat litter besides clay, so I can't attest to the other that was mentioned.

  8. I too, use Tidy Cat with carbon particles...it controls the odor great!! I have 2 cats, and when I scoop their box twice a day, you'd never know I have 2 cats. And their litter box is in an open area of our house. I hate scented cat litter....who wants to smell **** and flowers??? LOL J/K Anyways, TidyCat is my #1 choice, but thats me.

  9. the clump type

  10. Wood stove pellets are the absolute best litter to use. Not only do they totally remove the urine odor but they absorb the moisture, the pan dumps out dry and the best part? You can buy a 40 pound bag for about FOUR TO FIVE DOLLARS! It's the same compressed pine sawdust pellets as Feline Pine so anyone using that stop wasting your money! Nothing really kills p**p odor plus I don't want my cats to end up with poopy paws so I scoop any poops out daily. With four cats and three litter boxes I dump the pans out after about a week or so. Since the litter's so cheap I don't mind changing it often.

During cooler months you can find them at Home Depot, Lowes and other homestores and most grocery stores like Safeway, Fred Meyer and Albertsons stores here in the Northwest US. You can also find them year round at feed stores as farmers/horse owners use them in horse stalls as well.
