Like anywhere else. We have offices, malls, police stations, hospitals, universities, farms, etc... like anywhere else.

On the other hand, there's in Mexico City in particular a lot of "informal business", mainly street vendors that put a little stand on a sidewalk ilegally and sells all sorts of things (ugly and cheap chinese clothes, office supplies, pirate DVD's, jewelry, toys, food, plants, etc...).

The mini empresas (small businesses) is common all over the country. In every single village you go to will always have a tiendita (little store) that sells Bimbo bread, cokes, milk, etc... They are always family owned and they're rarely franchises. However, Oxxos are popping up everywhere in Mexico City taking away business (can't compete against good refrigeration and 24 hour service).

Small stores that are family owned can be of many things: papelería (office supplies and photocopies), hair saloon, tlalpalería (pluming supplies, tools), butchers, internet cafe, funeral stuff, small low class restaurants with cheap food, dry cleaning, etc... Usually the building has only 1 or 2 rooms, one floor, building is made out of cement and no parking lot. Many stores still paint some drawing related to their business. You can still see businesses that pirate Disney or Looney Tunes characters on the building. I've even seen Spongebob drawings albeit not really well drawn ones.

Most jobs in office related things aren't really different from anywhere else.

There are many different types of jobs just not as many. Goverment, university, store owner and worker's, factories and warehouses like Kimberly Clark that makes toliet paper, coca-cola, construction, farm, restaurant, fast food, hotel, Sam's club, walmart, home depot, mc donald's, burger king, domino's, mall, sear's, hard rock cafe, post office, DHL, UPS,Fed ex, Airports , taxi drivers, bus companies not in all area's. Mostly Mexico City has most named above amoung other local and worldwide companies. Just to give you some idea but the are other companies and business in Mexico City and other towns.
