I want to build my own cabin somewhere and just live off the land. I'm thinking about Alaska but somewhere warmer would be nice.

  1. somewere were there is brownfields or disposal areas i know i want to be real close to them there is always something good about haveing to keep your windows closed and your toys in cause you can breath outside cause your neibors are spraying chemicals

  2. Are you thinking of homesteading? If so, fuhgeddaboudit. The U.S. no longer give land away free to people who will develop it. Other countries may do so, though.

  3. You can't just go build a cabin in the wilderness.  I was raised in a rural area  therefore I would suggest you rent a cabin somewhere in a rural area and then  live off the land there.  I know it sounds romantic however it is not.

  4. If you haven't already, you should read "One Man's Wilderness". Its about Richard Proenneke who built a cabin on Twin Lakes in Lake Clark National Park, Alaska, using only hand tools and lumber from the surrounding forest. He lived there for 30 years until he decided that at age 82 he was getting too old for it.

If your not much of a reader, they made a film called Alone in the Wilderness.

If you do decide to go through with it, know what you're getting yourself into.

  5. I don't know in which country you are living.                        every country has so many no polluted zone.you can live there if you can afford.

  6. all you need is a small motorhome . there is a lot of areas in the desert southwest you can just park and camp.

it only takes two years for a adverse possession in Arizona: In Arizona, two (2) years uninterrupted possession is sufficient to claim real estate by adverse possession against persons who have no better right to real estate. To recover a real estate claim by another person by adverse possession, one must file suit within the time period specified in Arizona Code §12-523. Arizona Code §12-521 through 528.

that means if you can find a piece of vacant land and park a motor home on it for two years and pay the taxes it becomes yours if no one challenges you.

the big part is there are a lot of people from the east coast who have land in AZ that they got to someday build a retirement home on and for years have not checked there property.

some don't even know where there property really is.

the best way to do this is to check with the property tax office and find a piece of land that you can park a motor home on that is delinquent on taxes and the owner lives in another state.

then pay the taxes in your name and move in.

and after two years if the owner does not find out you file with the state for a deed.

what this amounts to is a homestead.

but it is called a adverse possession.

other states take different lengths of time.

if the owner catches you. you just drive off.

  7. I think New Mexico has the best (least) building codes.  One can build a tire house there.  An Earthship for all of us.  The blunt skulls in my township would never allow this.

My great-grand parents grew all they needed from the land (48421), if they could do this 100 years ago, I can do it now.

The American indian grew the same amount of calories per acre as we do today, with three sisters. All without herbicides or insecticides (all WWII nerve gas ) .
