What language did mexicans speak, before they started to speak spanish?

Before Mexico became Spanish it was inhabited by many different Native American tribes, just like the U.S. and South America.

These groups all had their own cultures and languages. The Incas had their own language, the same for the Maya and all the others. Even though Spanish is now the national language, some of these native languages are still spoken, by the way.

Depending on which indian group they were a part of, they would have spoken their native language.  Mayan family and Nahuatl (aztec) are still commonly used languages among many mexicans.  There are many regional dialects that continue to exist today.
