What language do they speak in Italy?

I am in Minnesota and just booked a vacation for September. What language do they speak over there so I can practice. I think it might be German but not entirely sure.

Oh, no! I'm Italian and I can assure you there are very few people who speak German here. Much better is English...and Italian, of course. A bit of French...but that's rare too.

Italian people speak Italian, a lauguage based on Latin.  It is considered one of the Romance Languages.  There are lots of language learning cds available to help with learning the language. Check with your local bookstore or on Amazon.com in the Books and Learning section.

If you were traveling to Germany,  then you would need to study the German language.

and it's not that hard to learn, similar to French.

search a couple of sites for the language, and write down how you say the most important phrases, like food & drink, hotels.. etc!
