The most widely spoken Semitic language today is Arabic, followed by Amharic, Hebrew, and Tigrinya. The table below lists the most populous Semitic languages.


  2. There is more than just one language spoken in the Middle East. Arabic is most common, Farsi is spoken in Iran (Persia originally), Turkish in Turkey, Amazighi is the language of the Berbers in Morocco, some Armenians still hold on to their language, among others. English is most widespread as a second language, then French then probably Italian.
