In high school, I took 5 years of Japanese but I'm far from being fluent.

I know enough to survive if I were to live in Japan but not to carry a full out debate or conversation.

I'm really interested in Taiwan so should i study mandarin then?

I don't know if I should stick with Japanese or start mandarin.

Or should I just keep with Vietnamese (since it is my first language)

thanks in advance!

  2. For this question, you have to ask yourself first. Which country/countries do you want to deal with? Will you be able to live there? do you like the lifestyles there (if you plan to live abroad)?

Ok, you're interested in Taiwan. You should definitely try Mandarin. it's different from japanese. I was doing both Japanese and Mandarin and i decided to drop japanese (due to so many grammar rules). And Mandarin will enable you to the HUGE GROWING country of China! so that's your choice.

but it's definitely good to keep up with your vietnamese since the country is growing too!

However, those languages will definitely be a barrier for you to get to other countries in Europe or other parts of the world. It's really your choice!
