What laptop should I get?

I'm going to college this fall and I need a laptop. I"ll probably stick to it all 4 years and I"m want something under 1k. Any suggestions? I'm currently looking at the Dells (Studio 15 and Inspiron 1720), what do you think?

Yeah toma I think he said under $1,000 so a mac isnt really going to cut it. I do not think Steve Jobs knows that some people are on a budget and can not spend the extra $300-$500 dollars for the Apple name. Sorry about that.....I do not like Mac fanboys. To your question. Yes, dells are good laptops, but not the laptop I would choose under $1,000. I have had very good experience with Asus laptops. They are pretty unknown, but they are mid-priced and give you a lot for your money. Also, if you want to get a great system with a lot of RAM and memory I would suggest going with AMD processors and ATI Graphics Cards. You can get more stuff by getting these because you are not playing more for the name, thus being able to get money to save in other areas. Any questions feel free to ask. [e-mail]

if your looking at dells stay within the inspiron range as they are said to be the most reliable from dell.

if you look after it well it will last you a lot longer than 4 years.

i have an inspiron 1300/b1300 and its now 3 yrs old an still working like from the day i got it
