  1. Henry the VIII was mostly considered a ruthless king because in order to find a woman who could give him a male child, he ended up killing off his wives--it is what the Catholic church has said, "Until Death do you part."  Divorce was not recognized back then.  He is considered a great leader because he founded the reformed church.  The Episcopalian , Methodist, Lutheran churches all come from his "reformation".  Even though he was not a religious leader, he brought about change in that man could judge for himself, what God was trying to say, and not have to have it interpreted by a religious "figure of authority" like the Pope that makes all church doctorine.  The reason why he died, and I'm not positive of this, is that someone of the Catholic church, or whom was a fervent supporter of the Catholic church probably killed him.  Be careful though that it wasn't the one wife he was seeking to divorce at the time though.

  2. He was neither.

  3. no he was a fat-idiot-sexist pig that all

but his daughter Elisabeth was a great leader

  4. He was determined to get what he wanted and had good intentions for his country (although a thoroughly messed up personal life).

  5. he didnt compromise

when he wanted a divorce from Catherine of Aragon, and the Catholic church wouldn't grant it, so he lopped off his Catholic advisors head (the dudes name was thomas wolsey)

He formed his own church because he could not do what he wanted under the Catholic Church

Henry the VIII was very smart. He knew Greek, Latin, English, and he was a great songwriter, poet, and when he was younger he was strong, a good hunter, and marvelously handsome.

Henry wanted a son all his life, and had to go through three or four wives to get his son, Edward. His first two daughters, Mary and Elizabath, were born from Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn. It took a lady named Jane to have Edward, and she died shortly afterwards

Henry went through a lot of suffering, death, and money on Englands throne, but he was a smart, stubborn, resourceful leader.

  6. Well he certainly wasn't a martyr.

Are you sure you got the question correct? Henry VIII was never really considered a great leader. When he was very young he was considered handsome, intelligent, and very charming, but he did not age well. He grew fat and had running sores by the end of his 38 year reign.

He wasn't a good military man, he built ships but did not really establish the structure for a good Navy. He was responsible for breaking the church of England from the Catholic Church, but he was not a religious man. During his time some great buildings were built and some colleges were started, but he was not a scholar. There was some exploration of the New World during his reign, but England lagged severely behind the rest of Europe.

  7. He was neither. He's actually famous mainly because he caused the Church of England to be created so he could get a divorce and re-marry.
