What legal action can be taken against a phone company for slander?

Someone signed me up for phone service I specifically

asked for another company, and the phone company I was signed up for charging me over $500.00. Am I responcible

and if not what actions can I take for slander?

  1. What happened to you is called "slamming," and it is far too common.  (It's not slander, which basically means telling people something untrue about you.)

    Yes, there are some things you can do, and the place to start is with the FCC.  Here is their Web site that discusses slamming and the actions you can take:

    You should definitely pursue this, to protect your own rights and to protect other people who will be cheated in the same way you were.
