  1. So the bags didn't deploy and you didn't die ... what the heck kind of legal action do you expect to take? I hate people like you. You are simply looking for a cash-cow so you can retire. If you read your owners manual you will find (in plain black & white) that the airbags are NOT guaranteed to deploy and NOT guaranteed to prevent injury. They are there as a SUPPLEMENTAL system to the seatbelts. There are specific parameters that must be met in a collision before the SRS deploys -- perhaps the conditions were not met. Who knows -- who CARES?? You're alive, aren't you?

    Dang.

  2. Airbags deploy only when they might be needed to prevent serious injury.

Frontal driver and passenger airbags are designed to inflate in moderate to severe frontal crashes equivalent to hitting a solid barrier at 10-12 mph.

Some manufacturers use different inflation thresholds depending on whether people are using their safety belts.

Thresholds of 10-12 mph typically are used for unbelted occupants, but thresholds are higher — about 16 mph — for belted occupants because the belts alone are likely to provide adequate protection up to these moderate speeds.

So to answer your question, it might not have hit the sensor but at the same time I would contact the Saturn manufacturer and have someone come down and inspect the vehicle before your insurance company junks it.

  3. If you were traveling at under 10 - 5 mph, it is possible that the airbags did not deploy for that reason. Air bags are made to protect you from injuries caused by you moving forward (due to inertia) after a collision. They are part of the "supplemental restraint system".

Air bags do not deploy in slow speed collisions because there is much less danger of you flying forward (into the steering wheel, windshield, or dash) when the car is traveling slowly! The airbag is not there to cushion an impact from another vehicle, it is to help keep you in place!

In this case the air bags did not deploy, nor were they supposed to do so. You can sue the driver that hit you, if they were in the wrong lane, but you have no case or complaint with the manufacturer!!

  4. Wow. That sucks. I have no idea what you should do. Actually, I do. Get a lawyer and tell em what happened, they'll talk to saturn and junk and after about  a year, you'll get a deal.

That's scary. My family owns a '00 saturn SL1 and a '93 SL2. Hopefully that doesn't happen to us. Sorry if my answer wasn't helpful. Just stating what you should do, and getting a lawyer is a good thing.

    Happy sueing!

  5. Air bags go off in direct frontal impact.  It sounds like you were hit at an offset.  Airbags do not go off on those impacts because they can contribute to worse injury.

  6. mosr lawyers work on a percentage basis no fee if they lose  some law schols have students that may help

  7. Air bags only deploy in certain impacts! They factor in degrees to avoid the bag deploying so that if you were to glance of a car then hit a wall the bags wouldn't deploy until you hit the wall.
