After a flood my landlord refuses to replace the mold carpet in my living room. The flood was caused by a faulty sump pump that he was aware of and did not replace. Other affected apartments, now without tenants, are being fixed, but he wont fix mine. It smells and is attracting bugs. I dont want to move i want to make him fix it. I live in kansas. What can i do?

  1. Contact the County health department or the city code enforcement depending on where you live, ask them for an inspection of the premises and they will require the landlord to correct the problem, however the qualification you placed on your question may present a problem, you stated you did not want to move and any type of action could cause your landlord to consider you to be an undesirable tenant, however moving would be a wiser choice than a lung disease caused by the mold.~
