Our company was using a private contractor to retail & install product (he never did any of either). He was doing 1 install for us at our customers home (no quotes or contracts exist) and says he will both lien the customers property and sue us if we do not pay his new inflated bill. Im not sure what Canadian law is on this. Im getting sick of having these greedy people make these demands.

  1. There are two types of contracts, one

    easy to defend in court, the other, almost

    impossible;

    "he said, she said" gets a business almost

    nowhere.  While both verbal and written

    contracts are "good", any written contract

    supercedes a verbal one.

    I have never ever heard of a contractor

    winning a lawsuit in court with only

    a verbal agreement.  Does that help?

  2. There is a contract, your verbal agreement with the contractor.

    It is worth the paper it is printed on.
