What legal rights (if any) would a genetically engineered human-animal hybrid have?

1. I know that the technology doesn't exist (yet), but it easily could one day.

2. I also know that it's illegal, but let's say that someone did it anyway.

So, if I'm Dr. Madman and I engineer Dogman or Catwoman, what rights would they have?

PS - This is a serious question ...

  1. none

  2. There is no precedent for such a question so you can't do much other than speculate. Perhaps legislation on mother cells and embryos would serve as precedents.

They would have to have the basic rights as any other human being (since many are already argued in favor of animals) as the right to life and not being mistreated.

But fortunately no such thing will happen since possible does not override probable. Something more probable would be humans with other animal genes, but then all rights would apply.
