  2. If your receiver is HDMI switching or HDMI repeater, you should connect all your devices HDMI to receiver. That means you won't need audio cables to get sound and only HDMI to TV to get video.

  3. HD TVs and HD players usually have HDMI(high definition multimedia interface)connection capability. It provides an all in one interface for transmitting uncompressed digital audio/video signals from one component to another ie. computers, digital cameras, receivers, hdtvs, cable boxes etc. It must be present on each component to connect them together. The most common length is 6ft. but you can buy longer ones as needed. Of course they get more expensive the longer they get.

  4. They connect from a hdmi connect to a hdmi connect. Check if units have hdmi and use what you need lengh depends on distance from tv. you can get 1m, 2m, 5m, 10m cables

  5. Hi Skywalker_NatureBoy's: First check the connector type of your equipment (TV, DVD or Blu Ray) to make sure that they have HDMI connector. Now, check your source of video, because if it's not broadcasted or recorded in HD, you will see it like another ordinary TV show or movie. If everything is OK, you may use the cable almost as long as you need (10, 20 or 30 ft) but be aware that more distance will cause a certain loss of signal, so try to place your devices as close as is possible.

  6. An HDMI cable can carry both sound and video. With that in mind, you could connect the cable box directly to the TV bypassing the surround sound by why would you do that? With only knowing your basic setup, i would suggest running a DVI cable to your TV and high definition component cables to your surround sound.
