Question:

What length of skis should i get?

i am going to buy the Salomon Thrusters. and i can either get the 161 or the 171. i'm not sure which size would be better. im an experienced skier in park, pipe, & rails. i'm 5'5" and i weigh 130lbs. what do u guys think?

  1. Based on what you said, I think your ideal length is 164. That puts you sort of in the middle of 161 and 171. I think you will do fine with either length.

    I say..

    - If you want better control in parks/pipes, go with 161.

    - If you will use them only in parks/pipes, go with 161.

    - If you already have another pair for all mountain and/or powder, also go with 161.

    - BUT if this is the only pair you will  have, go with 171 for more stability when cruising all mountain and for more floatation on powder.

    although it seems like you need something in between.

  3. Go with the shorter pair, they are a little softer and you do not have the weight to properly flex the ski in the longer length. When choosing a pair of skiis they must be sized to your size and your ability. The ski must support your weight over the full length and not be too soft nor too stiff.
