I believe that back in the mid 60's and early 70's, your tour of duty was anywhere from 12 months to 24 months....so basically 2 years.....you also have to remember in those times they had the draft...and 1000's of american G.I.s were being killed....we really didnt win that war.....we walked away from Viet Nam with a greater lesson:  Dont involve ourselves in foreign affairs.....flash forward 35 years, and BUSH totally ignores those lessons learned...go figure

    A general said "We were not in Vietnam for ten years, but for one year ten times".
