Question:

What length skis should I get? Atomic Metron M10 at 164cm or 171cm?

I am 21 years old 6'1 and I weigh 185pounds.

I am looking to buy Atomic metron skis. I ski on the East Coast and I have decided that the Atomic Metron M10 will suit me best. But I am not sure what length to get. I have been to 3 ski shops and 2 told me to get 171cm and one 164cm. The guy at the store explained that since I will be skiing on piste almost all the time the shorter length of 164cm will be better for me.

I am really confused.

Please help me choose the right length. I will also appreciate any comments on the skis.

  1.  I'm not sure how old this question is, but for posterity...

I have Atomic Metron M10 164s, and I am 5'10'' 165 lbs.  Mine are several years old (2005 I think), and have the first version of the Neox Bindings.  I'd say 164s are about right for me, so based on your size / weight you probably want the next longer size.  One note - these skis are substantial, and the bindings especially are heavy.  I think the newer bindings may be lighter weight, but I'm not sure.  They are great skis, especially for high speed carving.  Not as good for short turns (though not terrible), and they float in powder pretty well for not being a powder ski.  However, they can be a lot of work sometimes.  I am about to buy a pair of Apache Recons for the days when I want to tool around a little more "casually".

    Hope that helps.
