now, i have the money to get a Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8 ED AF-D lens, but im not super sure if i wanna just go ahead and buy that, or wait and save up for a 70-200mm.

And i know most people would say..oh yea save up cuz the 70-200 is a VR.. The only thing is..im the kinda person who likes things now, haha, if you know wut i mean..

and saving up for that is gonna take me quite a bit longer, cuz i dont have a job at the moment.

right now i have about $1,250 in the bank, and the lens is $914, with the lens im also getting an SB-800.

both those things i want right now...so if i waited and got the 70-200 (in like a couple months) i dont think i would be able to get the speedflash with it.

so as far as the 80-200 not have the VR, is there another significant reason why the 70-200 is better?

Im goin to be using either one with my D70

  1. Either lens will serve you well. The VR would let you shoot in lower light handheld. You need to look at how important this is to you. for me it makes a great deal of difference But if the 80 to 200 is a 2.8 vs the 70-300 being a 4.5-5.6 that may offset it The 70-300 also has the silent wave motor so it will focus fast and smooth.
